Dr. Carlos H. Cabrera Jr moved to Oklahoma City in the summer of 2011 to continue his training as an emergency medicine resident physician at the busiest emergency room facility in the state of Oklahoma. Even though his career is in medicine, Carlos has been an artist since he was a child. At the age of twelve, his middle school professor, who was also an art professor at the local university took him under his wings and taught him how to paint murals and sculpt. In high school Carlos was in advanced art placement classes all four years and won numerous state awards for some of his work. He was offered art scholarships to different universities, however, medicine is what he decided to pursue instead. Later in Life, Carlos hopes to combine his two passions in life, art and medicine! He wants to one day become a medical illustrator for some of the most distinguished anatomy textbooks in medicine. The last mural he created was during his first year of medical school. He painted a 24x12 foot mural in memory of the cadavers that donated their bodies to science. The mural made both national and international news. He has also done many other murals, including seven murals with Disney cartoon characters at a psychiatric pediatric hospital in San Antonio, TX.
