August 12, 2026 is a dream night for astronomy lovers! It marks the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the year’s most dazzling celestial events, while the New Moon provides beautifully dark skies—perfect for spotting shooting stars after class. Venus will also be shining brightly in the evening sky, making it a memorable night for stargazing. Although the total solar eclipse occurring earlier that day won’t be visible from Oklahoma, August 12 is still one of the most exciting skywatching dates of 2026.
No painting experience? No problem! Our artist will guide you step-by-step as you create your own stunning celestial landscape on a 16×20 wrapped canvas. Then, when class is over, you’ll have the perfect excuse to step outside, look up, and see if you can catch a few Perseid meteors lighting up the Oklahoma sky!
