DIY Decorative Broom Workshop at Anthem Brewing Company

Join us for a magical afternoon of crafting and create your own one-of-a-kind decorative broom or besom! Choose a warm Fall Harvest Broom filled with autumn colors and natural botanicals, or give yours a little witchy flair with a Halloween Besom featuring rich seasonal colors and spooky embellishments.

A besom is a traditional handmade broom created by binding natural twigs, grasses or broomcorn around a wooden handle. In this DIY workshop, you’ll select from an assortment of materials and design your broom to suit your own personal style.

Each guest will choose from available natural birch handles in assorted shapes and lengths, ranging from approximately 15 inches to 3 feet. Because these are real branches, every handle will have its own unique shape, coloring and character.

✨ Your crafting table will include:

– Natural broomcorn and traditional birch twigs
– Dried grasses, stemmed flowers, and botanicals (lavender & eucalyptus)
– Natural birch handles in assorted sizes
– Hemp twine, binding materials and glue
– Cinnamon sticks and star anise
– Feathers, crystals, and other natural accents
– Fall and Halloween silver charms
– Velvet, organza, satin, natural lace and rustic ribbons in a wide variety of colors
– Seasonal embellishments for both fall and Halloween designs
– Floral scissors, pruning tools and other necessary supplies

Sample brooms and inspiration will be available, and our artists will demonstrate helpful construction and binding techniques before you begin. This is a DIY-style workshop, so everyone may choose their own materials, create their own design and work at their own pace. Artists will remain on hand throughout the class to assist with binding, trimming, arranging and finishing your broom.

No experience is needed, and all supplies and tools are included. Due to the natural materials, each finished broom will be completely unique!

As a special bonus, we’ll have a selection of printed seasonal blessings, playful chants and lighthearted spells for participants to choose from and take home with their finished broom or besom. Enjoy one of Anthem’s locally crafted beers or another refreshing beverage while you create! Beer and beverages are purchased separately from the class. Guests must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages, and nonalcoholic options are also available.

Anthem does not offer food service, but guests are welcome to bring in their own food. No outside beverages are permitted. Anthem is also pet-friendly!
