Matthew Ferree
My name is Matt Ferree. I paint semi-realistic portraits, landscapes, and abstract works in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. My “scrappy” style uses aperature and negative space to represent authenticity cutting through image. My work is heavily influenced by modern artists Marilyn McEvoy, Alpay Efe, Tahlia Stanton, and Nocona Burgess, along with the many artists of turn-of-the-century Paris. I seek any subject that personifies the power of authenticity and the importance of character.
Art is my fraction of the truth, expressed in a way no other medium can offer. I’ve personally experienced healing and connectedness through art, and hope to capture that and pass it along.
